Get There Early – And Stay Late!
There is a dilemma in this tip as it involves spending a whole day at a sale, which is not really practical. So it depends on what you want from a car boot sale. If you get there early, you get the chance to see a lot of the stock on offer that day. You get in as sellers arrive to pick off some of the best bargains. Though you may have to fight off like-minded individuals with a similar aim. If you stay late, there are also bargains to be had. The choice may not be great, but many sellers will just want to get rid of stock. Thus you can pick up stuff for virtually nothing.
Set A Budget
By definition a car boot sale will be full of items available at a bargain price. So you may be tempted to buy virtually everything you can lay your hands on. But that would be a tad foolish. A bargain is only a bargain if it is something you will get use out of. Otherwise you are just wasting money, however good value that item may be. So decide what sort of things you want, and how much you are prepared to spend. Then you can be more selective once you are there.
Have A Plan
Which ties into having a plan. Decide how you want to play buying from a huge amount of random stalls. Do you want a clothes bargain, some new books, or perhaps a CD? Sometimes it is best to focus on specific items, and see what is out there. Just randomly walking around can leave you frustrated and confused. And the best bargains may be snapped up whilst you do.

The true beneficiaries of car boot sales are those who can spot a spectacular bargain because if their expert knowledge on a particular topic. An obvious example are antique and art experts, who will be able to sniff out items that are clearly under-priced. They can make a killing because often the seller will have no idea that they are sitting on a goldmine. They would not be selling at a car boot if they did.
