Tips For Better Mental Health

Over the past year or so, we have all had a lot to deal with. For many the issues have been financial, but linked or often separate to that has been a struggle with mental health. It is not easy to deal with what has happened in the world in recent times. With that in mind, we looked at some handy tips for better mental health.

Ensure that you have a routine

I think it is important that you have a set plan for every day whilst stuck at home. It will help you having a structure in your day.  And having a set plan of things to do helps the day go faster. And I feel that the faster the day goes the better that is for your mental health. It is good to fill the time with productive actions. Part of this routine can be getting up nice and early and not overstaying your time in bed. Dressing as if you are at work and acting in a professional manner as if you’re in an office environment. Just as important now is to take breaks. Ensure some leisure time, and factor in some downtime. This is to ensure the day or any day is not too stressful. You have the time to carry out your duties so don’t feel the need to rush

Tips For Better Mental Health – Life Balance

This leads on to my second point, the balance you must have in your life. This is the balance between work and leisure. I’m finding a way to relax as much as possible. Do the same if work is dominating too much in your life right now. Consider what you could do as a balance for when you finish your work. Perhaps take up a new hobby perhaps do something with your partner or members of your family. Be creative for the end of the day do whatever suits you to take your mind off work and to destress.

Tips For Better Mental Health – Exercise

What are the most important points of all in this article or any article about how to survive a lockdown pandemic and how to feel good about yourself? Exercise. Whether there is a lock down or not regular exercise is an absolute essential for your mind and for your body. For many exercise is obviously a lot easier and more natural than it is for others. Do what you can with in your life and your routine. Even a 5 minute walk around the block every day will make all the difference. Especially compared to sitting at home and not moving. You must move away from a sedentary lifestyle as often as possible. I know from playing badminton once a week the amazing effect that it has on my state of mind for the rest of the day and beyond.

Move away from the device on which you read this article

Essentially I’m talking about mobile phones but this could also refer to your computer or laptop. I have started recently throwing my phone onto the couch as I work. I ensure I do not glance at it for an hour or two at a time. This has made all the difference to my productivity and my state of mind. There are too many of us welded to our technology. Always locked into our phones. We need to move away from that it does us no good to be constantly looking at a screen.  Be it your computer or your phone so take time every day to move away from technology. And just enjoy the simple things in life. That could be a quick TV program even though that includes involves looking at a screen. Or go for a walk read a book learn some new recipes whatever suits you during your daily routine.

Keep in touch

I think it’s been essential in the last year to keep in touch with friends and family that you do not have the opportunity to see and meet face to face but it’s a positive thing for you and then it is good for your mental health to stay in touch and chat with people and to talk about your emotions and it is good for them to hear from you all the time so be proactive drop a note to friends and family get on a video call and keep talking to people

Avoid the boredom

boredom for me is dangerous not only because it is not good for your mental health but also when I’m bored I start looking at things to buy comfort buying on Amazon or elsewhere and I do not have the money to do this nor do I need the things I’m buying this could also lead to comfort eating as well which is not good for my health and I certainly need to lose a few pounds right now due to the overly sedentary lifestyle I’ve led in the last year whilst working at home. So key is to avoid boredom if you feel bored walk away from your work for short while or from wherever you are and do something you enjoy whatever that may be.

Use this difficult time to organize your finances

the last year has been good for me in a way as with no social life I’ve saved a huge amount of money but I needed to as my finances were in a very poor state and they still need a lot of attention so use the time you have at home to go through your finances workout where you can save money or how you can make your money go further and plan for the future for when we get back to normal do not turn a blind eye to financial problems but deal with them head on turning a blind eye it never works as the problem will never go away it will just get worse and worse
