Planning A Supermarket Shop

Planning a supermarket shop helps you make your money go further, and helps avoid food waste. We look at how you can go about planning your shop.

Planning A Supermarket Shop – Check What You Have

I always make sure I am aware of what is in the refrigerator, freezer, and cabinets.

It happens frequently that you can locate useful hidden things. Additionally, I have enough leftovers and other ingredients to make a few meals. I thus can postpone my need to buy groceries for a few days. When money is tight, I try hard to really empty out what i have before doing any major shop. Otherwise, there is stuff I may never use. It just sits there, gathering ice, and dust.

Plan Your Meals

For a family of four, breakfast, lunch, supper, and any snacks in between could total up to 16 distinct meals each day. Therefore, families need to make advance preparations.
With the exception of the weekends, when the occasional treat sneaks in, I typically eat the same thing for breakfast every day. This helps me plan.

Try to use any leftovers from dinner the night before for your lunches. As a result, I don’t have to buy as many extra items, and you’d be surprised at how much better a bowl of warmed Bolognese tastes the next day. In order to avoid having to buy a lot of different items, I also aim to select meals that employ the same ingredients while choosing a weekly menu.

Planning A Supermarket Shop – Lists Are Great

Making lists is an excellent way to stay productive. Group products that are comparable together while composing the list. The fresh food, veggies, and all frozen items are combined.

This helps you save time at the store. It also prevents you from idly walking around and being tempted to buy things just for the purpose of it.
Obviously, having such a well-organized list is not mandatory while shopping online, but it is helpful if you’re on a tight budget. Additionally, once you’ve done some online shopping, you can keep your list for later purchases.

Having a list will also assure me that everything on it is readily available. It won’t go in the basket or trolley if it’s not on the list.

Online Opportunities

Whether we shop for food in-store or online will depend on my mood, what else is going on in my week, and whether any of the supermarkets have received an email with a coupon code.

Everybody has its advantages. Online shopping is quite rapid and can be done whenever you want to, even in your pyjamas. You don’t have to get the kids ready to leave the house or engage in trolley fights with other customers.

The reduced section is out of the question for you, you can’t choose the sizes or shapes of the meat or vegetables, and you have no say in the best before dates that are determined for you.

Planning A Supermarket Shop – Offers

I frequently receive a variety of grocery coupons in the mail or those we clip out of magazines and newspapers. Additionally, certain apps, like Shopmium, provide discounts on particular supermarket items.

If there are any for a specific store, it can influence where I go because I can find a less expensive retailer. Everyone enjoys a good deal.

It’s always worth checking since in certain cases, it can mean that I pick up branded items for the same price as or less expensive than some of the store’s own brand foods.
