As the seemingly endless restrictions due to a global pandemic continue, many of us find the period especially tough financially. That is why it is always worth regularly looking at what we can all do to help each other get by. And part of that is ensuring we seek out help and make what money we have go as far as possible. We took a look at savings to make in October.
Well this is not strictly for October, but is wroth mentioning now if you are not fully aware of the details. A couple of weeks ago, the government announced its latest package for those who are self-employed and have seen their income affected by the pandemic.
I consider the amount on offer derisory, but I guess some may say it is better than nothing. I was not expecting a new raft of grants, though recent events show they are much needed. So the package means that self-employed workers will receive 20% of their average profits for three months. Namely, November, December and January. There will be a further package for the subsequent three months, but the details will not be revealed until a later date.
As ever there are always sales on items across the year, not just selective times as used to be the case. So if there is something you need to purchase, have a good look at what is out there, and get the best price.
There are other savings that can be made at any time. Cancelling any subscription normally results in an offer coming your way to persuade to stay. I even got 20% off a food service the other day when i tried to cancel. It thus became worth my while to stay after all. Throughout the year there are coupons, loyalty points and much more that can see you get real value for money. Don’t forget if you have a Kindle to check for free books too.
Not surprisingly, there are some good deals right now. The downside to booking though is obvious, as none if us know what the future holds. But naturally you are covered for refunds should the flights get cancelled before you get to go.
Wednesday 14th October is the big day for Amazon Prime deals, when a host of items will be heavily reduced for one day only. This could be a good time to pick up a bargain, perhaps as a Christmas present.
Certain people can get certain deals. Students can get Amazon Prime free for 6 months. Remember to cancel at the end of 6 months before the charges hit. And as a Samsung phone owner, I just got offered 4 months of Youtube Premium for free.
